Semper Fidelis
Published in Paperback by Ballantine Books (September, 1988)
Author: Johnnie M. Clark
Average review score:

...
This is the second book I have read from Johnnie Clark. I was born during the Vietnam years but I am too young to remember them. I would encourage everyone to read this book as well as Guns Up! I will read as many of his books as I can get a hold of. Johnnie Clark puts you in the head of a soldier as no one else can. I have always supported the soldiers who do our fighting for us. However, I have a renewed understanding of what a soldier goes through. If you ever read this Johnnie, Thank You! Always Faithful.

Thumbs Up - excellant
I was not with the marines but I was in Vietnam with the 75th Rangers and it was pretty tough. The author has a great feel for what really happened over there and what we were treated like while over there and when we returned. It was my first book by Johnny Clark and I liked it so well that I have recommended the book to my wife and to other Nam vets. I have also taked up reading him in all that I can find by him

I would recommend his books to all and to other Vietnam Veterans because it has helped me out and others to understand what we went through.

Sexocize: A Female Genitourinary Program
Published in Paperback by West Pine Publishing Co. (December, 1989)
Author: Janan Clark
Average review score:

WOW! Does this ever work!!
After having my first baby I began looking around for information on how to tighten my stretched vaginal muscles. You see, my son's head did not cone very much and made the labor more difficult than it would have been otherwise. Luckily I came across Ms. Clark's book. The exercises were easy to follow and I soon began feeling like I was getting back in shape. Today I look and feel like I never had a baby- but I've got my wonderful little treasure to show that indeed I did. I highly recommend this book to anyone who needs to strengthen their genital muscles.

The perfect program!
I thought this program would be helpful, but have been truly amazed by the positive results. Every woman should have a copy!

Shining Mountains, Western Sea: The Epic Adventures of Two Unforgettable Members of Lewis and Clark's Corps of Discovery
Published in Paperback by Idyllwild Publishing Co. (01 October, 2002)
Author: Margaret Wyman
Average review score:

Shining Mountains, Western Sea
Immediately after finishing Margaret Wymans book, Mission, I eagerly picked up Shining Mountains, Western Sea. To my delight, it was everything I had inticipated, and more. This passionate account of Lewis and Clark's expedition, is impossible to put down. Wyman's character development is exceptional. This historic crew came alive for me as I followed their labor-intensive adventures from Missouri to the Pacific Ocean. Throughout the book, the emotional account of their tragedies and triumphs literally kept me awake and turning pages, long after my bedtime. I am anxious for Wyman to complete another book. Judging by her first two novels, I'm a fan hooked for life!

CAPTIVATING! A REAL PAGE-TURNER!
After non-stop reading Wyman's "Mission", I needed to check out her other book. WOW! This lady can weave a web of suspense, intrigue and personal connection! You will be so curious about the amazing personalities of the story, don't plan on going to sleep too early! THE BEST PART: The setting is so historically accurate that you cannot help but wonder how much research went into the book.
I heartily recommend both this and "Mission" to anyone who loves a great story, colorful characters and the untold stories of America's REAL history.

The Small Bees' Honey: Stories
Published in Paperback by White Pine Press (November, 1997)
Author: George Clark
Average review score:

Great Reading
Being lucky enough to have taken a creative writing class taught by George Clark I was not in the least bit shocked when I learned that this was the same person who had written "The Small Bees' Honey". It was well written and the indepthness of the descriptions made it seem that I was present in every story. I recommend this book to anyone.

An excellent collection filled with surprising emotion.
In my opinion this is a collection which should have been published by a large house and given the first-collection fanfare. It is a collection of terse, honest stories that least to moments of surprising emotion, a collection that weaves narratives between race and love and identity and loss and hope. If you're thinking about buying this collection, do it. Start with "Seven Stories...," which is my personal favorite, a highly polished tale that pulls different stories together for cubist-like beauty. There are a number of first-rate tales in this collection, and most importantly, this book is a departure from the material covered in many recent American collections. This is fresh and new and powerful.

Spares: The Special Edition
Published in Hardcover by Overlook Connection Press (March, 1999)
Authors: Michael M. Smith, Alan Clark, and Michael Marshall Smith
Average review score:

Mick Farren + William Gibson = Michael Marshall Smith
This is a great primer for Marshall Smith. He's out ofBritain, so some of his stuff isn't available on amazom.com so checkamazon.co.uk. It's worth the extra shipping fees. He's probably the best satirical sf writer out today. No dragons or ogres, just almost normal people in a messed up situation.

If you only own one piece of fiction...
Sheer unadulterated brilliance is what Marshall Smith deliveres here. In a surreal world where people are cloned for spare parts, one man, down on his luck, comes to the rescue of beings considered less than human. Always enthralling, but at times you are unable to tell if this book is incredibly hilarious or really scary. Prepare for the most enjoyable assault on your imagination.

Spindletop
Published in Hardcover by Gulf Publishing (February, 1981)
Author: James Anthony Clark
Average review score:

A 'MUST READ' for the people in the oil industry
This is a great book in which the authors very tactfully unfold the story of the Spindletop Oil Field. With modern techniques of oil exploration one may never have the 'Spindletop Experience' ever again. This book would interest anyone who is even remotely related with the petroleum industry. It should make one appreciate the early days of oil industry on whose experiences the modern peroleum industry is based on. The last chapters may not interest some people as the book goes into the legal suits fought over the oilfield. Overall, I strongly recommend the modern 'oilmen' to read this book.

Spindletop
A fascinating account of the events and people who brought in the birth of the modern oil business. The book brings to life the time period, the cast of characters that were involved and the obstacles and naysayers which had to be overcome. See how hard work and dogged persistence by these men was rewarded not just once (as in the initial discovery of the field) but several times. The book is well written and moves along at a good pace. As a person involved in the oil business for 20 years, this book reminded my of why the oil business is so special.

Spiritually Fit
Published in Paperback by CB Press (01 January, 2003)
Author: Clark Bartram
Average review score:

Get A Quality Life, Read Spiritually Fit!
I have personally read over a hundred books on fitness and nutrition, and can honestly say that Clark Bartram's book, Spiritually Fit, is my favorite! What differentiates Mr. Bartram's book from others is that not only does he give practical advice to enrich your life with good nutrition and fitness routines, he includes solid spiritual principles as well. It is about time someone wrote a book such as this!

In his foreword, Mr. Bartram writes, "Fitness and faith-----where is the balance? How do we as Christians justify spending time trying to develop our bodies when we know that the body is temporary and superficial? How do we achieve the proper equilibrium between our physical and spiritual selves?" After reading this book I believe more than ever that it is God's will that we are to take care of our physical bodies, temporal though they may be, in order to live vital, abundant lives which glorify our creator. Mr. Bartram is very convincing and insightful in the manner in which he communicates this.

The price of this book is a bargain, considering the nutritional and training advice the author gives would likely cost hundreds of dollars to obtain from a personal trainer and nutritionist. He writes in an entertaining fashion as well. You are sure to love his "Ten Commandments of Fitness" in chapter eight.

I would highly recommend Spiritually Fit to anyone who wants to build their self-esteem, to love and respect others more, and who eagerly desires to have the balanced, quality life that God intended for them. Get physically and spiritually fit, and start by buying this book!

A must have!
I am a Christian woman who enjoys working out but sometimes feel I get a bit out of balance. Spiritually Fit helped me gain a better understanding of how to maintain a positive balance between my physical and spiritual sides. In addition to providing excellent information on how to get in great shape the author sheds light on how it relates to our spiritual lives as well. If you have ever struggled with how not to obsess over how to get a great body and not losing control everywhere else I highly suggest you pick this great book up. I have looked for years and there is NO OTHER book like this out there anywhere, especially from such a reputable source.

Standard Catalog of American Cars 1805-1942 (3rd Ed)
Published in Paperback by Krause Publications (May, 1996)
Authors: Beverly Rae Kimes, Henry Austin Clark, Ralph Dunwoodie, and Keith Marvin
Average review score:

Excellent automobile reference.
I beleive that anyone looking for an automobile that could have been made in the US, will find it in this book. Very well written and informative.

The Best Source for Researching American Automobile History!
The Author's of this book have done a fantastic job of researching and documenting the early history of the American automobile. I have found this book to be an invaluable reference in researching the history of the automobile stock and bond certificates which I collect.

Even the most obscure and low-key manufacturer is covered. This book is well worth it's price and my only criticism would be...if all other readers used it as much as I do...please publish the next edition in hardcover!!

Taste of the Mediterranean: 150 Authentic Recipes from the Cuisines of the Sun: Italy, Greece
Published in Hardcover by Lorenz Books (October, 1996)
Authors: Joanna Farrow and Jacqueline Clark
Average review score:

Beware of the Clark/Farrow Repackaging Scam
These two authors write stunning books of delightful, easy-to-follow recipes, with lush, evocative photographs, and great attention to detail on the culinary fundamentals of each recipe. The only problem is that they keep recycling and republishing the same recipes/photos over and over again. I got burned three times. I bought the book "A Taste Of The Mediterranean", which I liked so much that, impetuously, I went online and bought three more titles by the same two authors, Jacqueline Clark and Joanna Farrow. I got "The Mediterranean Cookbook" (the one with the close-up photo of some ripe tomatoes on the cover). It turns out that this is the exact book as "A Taste Of The Mediterranean", but with illustrations in place of the photographs. The third book I received was "Mediterranean Country Kitchen", which while it is a lovely book, is nothing more than a condensed version of the same recipes/photos from "A Taste Of The Mediterranean". Lastly I bought the newer hardback book "Mediterranean : A Taste Of The Sun". This is an outstanding, lengthy book (500+ pages), but about half of it is "A Taste Of The Mediterranean" recycled in its entirety. I would certainly recommend the new one "Mediterranean : A Taste Of The Sun" as the finest and most complete of Clark and Farrow's sumptuous books on subject. But I'm feeling angry and a bit duped at buying the same book over and over again. Buy the new one, skip the earlier, cleverly-disguised retreads.

Stunning!
Often cookbooks with pretty pictures are low on substance. This book is not one of them. Yes, there are pretty pictures, more than that. Some of them are gorgeous, but it's the recipes that make one pause and then want to rush to the kitchen after a trip to the super market and stop eating junk when they could eat food like this. A stunning collection.
